They Will Always Be With Us – Remembering September 11, 2001

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Today we will commemorate – those who lost their lives One year ago, on a Tuesday morn – some ‘chosen ones’ survived It was just another day – in New York and in DC And in a Pennsylvania field – where tragedy was to be Americans could not believe – what was witnessed on that day An atrocious attack on our homeland – nothing comparable, in any way The days have continued forward – and we find ourselves so guarded We’ve identified the guilty ones – but their lesson cannot be discarded We must maintain a vigilance – be cautious in whom we trust They might be friend or enemy – yet, they will always be with us If we choose to look the other way – pretending all is fine Another heartbreak will resurrect – then, where will we draw the line? It seems as if we are dealing with – a ‘holy war’ they say But it is just a weak excuse – to battle one more day When defining the word ‘holy’ – it means ‘blessed’ and/or ‘sacred’ Then why within their minds and hearts – is nothing, but pure hatred? How sad we find such evil ones – who refuse to live at peace That can only come when we – love our very selves, the least As we remember Nine Eleven – and watch settlings of the dust Lives no longer may be here – yet, they will always be with us Our nation must remain so strong – in everything we do Our lives have been enduringly changed – it’s not the America we once knew Pray! Silence To The Heavens – Thoughts from September 11, 2001

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

As I looked toward the heavens – the sky was sad last night There were no sounds of aircraft – the stars were not as bright I walked around my plat of land – my mind wondered far away To a place of tragedy – where carnage came today The date was Nine Eleven – the year Two-Thousand One The terror felt in America – violated our known freedom Many of us wondered – “Where do we go from here?” But our undying spirit – will never be more dear The madness of our enemy – we never can forget But we need to find forgiveness – there IS a way….and yet, We must not permit their laughing cheers – to fill us with such rage Or we will lose our nation’s strength – as it knows no age Another morning dawns now – and we’ll begin again To persevere, yet express our pain – at this unpardonable sin We must support our country’s leaders – put political differences aside This heartbreak affects America – and there’s no place we can hide Let’s not forget our heroes – who gave their lives that day From airline crews to passengers – and those who came to aid The human lives imprisoned within – World Trade Center and Pentagon They will forever be remembered – as our lives continue on We may never have all the answers – to this senseless desecration But we can give of ourselves – and offer consolation The wound is deep, the healing long – so remember Nine Eleven For on that day, the aftermath, brought Silence To The Heavens M. Happy Birthday To Tim Morton – 45th Birthday

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

I heard a great big rumor..that your birthday is quite near But I just wanted to let you know..that I still think you're a dear Though you've just turned 45..amazing, you look so young So just sit back and rest assured..your song has yet to be sung Think of all you have accomplished..and be proud of who you are You're smart, friendly and approachable..your best assets, by far The things that matter most to you..are family and your friends Acquaintances you make at work..good wishes they'll surely send So enjoy your special day, Tim..as there'll be many more Take the time to just relax..and forget about EDS' chore There's much more that awaits you…like ridin' on your Harley Just do not wear the dreadlocks..like that singer named, Bob Marley Have a Great and Happy Birthday..and go hug your wife and kids But please don't snoop around the house..to find presents that they hid In closing, I would like to say..of you, I am so fond I know, I know it's hard to believe..this poem's written by a blonde!!!
